Comenius 2011, 2 – 6 March, Broughton Hall High School in Liverpool: Drama Project
Broad themes:
Who am I?
Where do I belong?
What do I need?
Who do I need?
What makes me happy? What makes me sad? Can this be measured?
What is causes prejudice? How can it be overcome?
Consider the following pairs of themes. We will be exploring them in our drama work in Liverpool. It will be much easier for us if everyone can do some preparation work in advance and bring the things asked for below.
A] Happiness | Depression /Sadness |
B] Belonging | Loneliness |
C] Tolerance | Prejudice |
A] Happiness and Sadness
Please bring with you a personal object [or some personal objects] that you associate with happiness and/or sadness.
Please prepare a gestural performance (with or without words) involving the object[s] you have brought.
Please could the students and teachers also bring some sounds or music or songs or poetry that they associate with happiness and/or sadness.
B] Loneliness and Belonging
Please bring a short monologue you have written yourself on what it might mean to be lonely or how it might feel to belong. This does not have to be about you personally. It could be somebody you know about or something you make up. [200 to 250 words would be fine].
C] Tolerance and Prejudice
Please bring some newspaper headlines or images that show prejudice. It could be a headline or a photograph from a newspaper, for example. Or it could be big words , slogans or images that express prejudice
Clothing
When we were in Germany the Spanish students did not have their suitcases until the third day, so we should not worry too much!
Could the students bring clothes that are comfortable and suitable for drama.
Could everyone bring a black and a white top or T shirt and also some black and some white trousers
